Our Sunday Visitor Curriculum Division is revising our curriculum and resources to reflect the Roman Missal revision. The following are among the changes being made to our materials.

Revisions to Student Editions
  • All lessons that discuss or teach children about the meaning of liturgical texts will now include the revised translation.
  • Because our lessons form learners in the language and rhythm of liturgical prayer, all prayer experiences will use the wording of the revised translation.
  • The source books found at the back of student texts will be edited for the necessary adaptations.
  • Photos that picture the Sacramentary are being updated to show the Roman Missal.
  • Indices and glossaries will now include revised terminology.
Revisions to Catechist & Teacher Editions
  • Any references in the Catechist or Teacher Editions will reflect the revised translation.
  • At key points, background information will be added to note the changes in liturgical language with information that speaks to the origin of the use.
  • New resource suggestions will be integrated into lesson plans, providing catechists and teachers age-appropriate language to speak to learners, and their families, about the changes.
Revisions to Bilingual Editions
  • The English portions of our bilingual texts will include revised Roman Missal changes from our English-only texts.
  • All revised Roman Missal changes from our English-language texts will be incorporated into our bilingual editions as well as any background information and resource suggestions.
Revisions to Ancillary Resources
  • Any resources that teach the meaning of liturgical texts or quote the words of the Mass will be edited to reflect the revised translation. These include parent resources and source books.
Revisions to Websites
  • Any reference to the parts of the Mass or the responses of the Mass will be modified to include the revisions.
  • Professional development articles, PDFs from Catechist and Teacher Editions, activities, and all other offerings will be modified.
Our Sunday Visitor offers new resources to prepare for and implement the revised translation. These resources are created to engage children, equip parents, build catechists, and support families. All-new And With Your Spirit Music CD, Faith Charts, Catechist Companion, Catholic Parent Know-How, and other tools provide straightforward and age-appropriate background and explanations. The U.S. Bishops have a website dedicated to helping parishes, dioceses, lay people and priests prepare for the transition to the revised Order of Mass. The site includes FAQs, sample texts for the people and priest, general resources and explanations of the changes, and more.

The bishops have asked publishers in creating tools and materials to assist in preparing the faithful to use the revised text and to reflect on the meaning and role of the Eucharist. One way Our Sunday Visitor has responded is through our newsletter, Today's Catechetical Leader

Our bishops encourage us with these words: "May the implementation of the revised Roman Missal be a time of deepening, nurturing, and celebrating our faith through the renewal of our worship and the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy."
